Artist’s Statement
It all begins and ends with the word we. A sickness has happened to us that informs us we have been unwell. This time the solution is not to fight. Conflict with one another is but a reflection of the conflict within our own nature. Somehow we have picked a fight with ourselves that we know we cannot win. It is from this dilemma we seek to emerge.
What does Oklahoma have to do with it? Oklahoma is us. It is the meeting place beyond you and me. There, music can be used to enthuse. Enthusiasm needs a cause and a course. Our cause is equal access to opportunity. Our course is courage.
Oklahomans display courage through sharing acts of kindness. Sharing is a healing choice. It is in togetherness that we heal and grow. Together, we choose Oklahoma.
